High level concrete repair at Bredbury

Following a break in progress due to operational difficulties, United Utilities Electricity instructed Ram Services to resume concrete repair operations at Bredbury substation, near Stockport.

The team re-mobilised at Easter, and expect to be on site until the end of September.  Intricate concrete repair and protection work is being undertaken to the top of the existing strain gantries, to extend the service life of the structures to 2015.

The current phase of work is valued at around £150,000.

Masonry works for Somerset County Council

Ram Services have also successfully developed a relationship with Somerset County Council, and their Agents Atkins Transportation.

Following an initial scheme in 2002, Ram Services have undertaken several further small schemes. Using confined space operations capable teams and specialist plant, these works have involved  re-pointing and minor reconstruction of masonry arched culverts at five locations around the county.

As a result of this, Ram Services were invited to participate with early involvement in the development of a scheme to refurbish a retaining wall some 1000m long at Chewton Mendip.  Here, similar techniques were used to repoint the existing wall along its full length using mortar materials approved by English Heritage, under the constraints of a limited duration full closure of the road.

Term contracts renewed at Leeds

Ram Services Limited have extended their relationship with Leeds City Council with renewal of the two year term contracts for Masonry Repairs and Routine Maintenance works on bridge structures.

The company was first awarded both contracts for the 2002-2003, period, and were again successful for 2004-2005, with both contracts being extended for a second year.

Successful tenders for the 2006-2008 contracts were returned in March, and work is now in progress on both schemes.

Work covered by the contracts varies greatly, and includes repair  and reinstatement of accident damage to masonry structures, investigation works, debris clearance, installation of vehicle barriers, concrete repairs etc.

Each contract is expected to be worth in excess of £80,000 with all work being valued against an agreed schedule of rates.
