Controlled demolition

Controlled demolition utilises a wide range of specialist techniques and equipment to take down or remove parts of an existing structure in a safe and predictable manner.

Such work is commonly required where major alterations to a structure are being carried out, perhaps as part of a change of use.

Examples include the formation of openings in floor slabs for lift shafts, escalators or service ducts, or openings in walls for doors and windows.

Changes in structural configuration may also be called for during modification or upgrade works, for example in water treatment plants or power stations.

Techniques used by Ram Services include

Diamond drilling

Concrete crunching and bursting

Robotic demolition utilising Brokk equipment

Diamond floor sawing

Diamond wall sawing

Diamond wire sawing

Correct choice and implementation of such specialist techniques enables precise removal of concrete, masonry and metal, whilst minimising additional cost created by over break or other lack of precision.

Furthermore, possibilities are created for such work to proceed with minimal noise, vibration or disruption, all of which may be critical in environments such as hospitals, manufacturing plants, retail premises etc.
